Quilt Prep

For Local Orders:

Please take a moment and carefully read the following about quilt prep. These easy tips will save you time and money and make your quilt completely ready for quilting!

  • I can supply high quality 80/20 batting at $8.99 yd. for 90″ or $10.99 yd. for 120″. If you supply the batting please be sure that it is 5-6” LARGER all the way around the quilt and that it is a quality brand such as Warm & Natural, Warm & White, Quilter’s Dream in Select Loft, Deluxe Loft or Supreme Loft (NOT Request Loft – too thin)
  • Please also be sure to have the quilt and backing pressed thoroughly. If possible, bring the quilt & quilt back draped over a fat plastic hanger or cardboard hanger – this prevents wrinkling.
  • Try NOT TO FOLD the quilt backing and top along any major seams as this can “un-press” the quilt seams.
  • If you get the chance, please visit my website to print off and fill out your invoice/order form ahead of time. http://www.bethanyquilts.com/order-form/ ***If you could pre-measure the top and back of your quilt(s) ahead of time and just jot the numbers down on the order form, that would be great.
  • I need extra backing fabric. Preferably the backing fabric should stick out about 5-6″ on all four sides of the quilt. Let me know if your’s is smaller than that – there is the chance that it can still work if the back is fairly straight.
  • I LOVE SELVEDGES!!! When you piece your backings leave the selvedges on (except for the ones in you seam) because they are perfectly straight edges which make for easy loading into my machine.

Thanks so much! I look forward to working with you.

Bethany
