The Flowers Say Hello
Pam loved her quilt. She has given me the opportunity to stitch several of her beauties! Her color composition is always so lush. The flowers in this quilt seemed to smile – the whole quilt sings “happy.” She usually tells me to quilt her quilts however I feel is best – I love hearing those words!
When I saw this quilt. I knew that I wanted to keep the flowers popping. Tight, close quilting in the background and loose quilting in the flowers accomplished this. In the end, the flowers actually looked a little 3D. In the photo below, you can see the poofy affect.
This quilt has a whimsical feel. When I first looked at it, I knew I’d put swirls in the background, but I was not sure what I’d do in the flowers themselves. Wiggle stitch was the design I finally settled on. However, after outlineing the flowers in wiggle stitch, they still needed further quilting – hence the swirls inside the flowers.
My favorite part of the quilting process was stitching in these curls with pedals in the green squares. They echoed the whimsical feel of the quilt and added a lively “bounce.” Thanks Pam for letting me go to town on this!
